The announcement comes after a robust 2020 which saw over 97,000 policies sold, a 7% increase compared to the previous year, and over 54,000 new policies sold in the first half of 2021.
This increase in growth has been driven by more employers looking to protect the health and wellbeing of their workforce in the aftermath of the Covid pandemic, with over 70% of new business written since 2020 coming from companies who previously had no cash plan in place. Medicash now covers over 325,000 policyholders across the UK.
Paul Gambon, sales & marketing director at Medicash said: “With the Covid-19 pandemic making many of us more aware of our health, it’s great to see that employee wellbeing has climbed to the top of many businesses’ agendas.
“This year’s growth has also been supported by our dedication to increasing our digital services, such as introducing the SkinVision skin cancer detection app in 2020 and our recent launch of the Phio physiotherapy assessment and self-managed care app. This has allowed us to offer Medicash customers more ways to take care of their everyday health than ever before, with innovative technology making our service both efficient and great value.”
Off the back of this success, Medicash is now considering a move to new offices within Liverpool City Centre as it prepares to grow the business further over the coming years. In March 2019, Medicash acquired health and wellbeing specialists Health@Work, whose national Workplace Wellbeing Charter accreditation provides an official acknowledgement of a company’s commitment to the health and wellbeing of their employees. Health@Work also offer a range of wellbeing training courses for employees and leaders, including a recently launched series of menopause awareness courses to help employers build an inclusive space for a diverse workforce.
Sue Weir, chief executive of Medicash said: “This is a really exciting point in Medicash’s journey. As we mark our 150th Anniversary, the business is looking stronger than ever with our acquisition of Health@Work and our ongoing dedication to charitable giving, having donated over £500,000 to charities in 2020 alone. We can’t wait to head into the next stage of Medicash’s journey and continue to provide the great service our customers know us for.”
